Trenches of Discovery - Diplomacy through Science

The spectre of the Arab-Israeli conflict has haunted the world for the past 60 years and helped to destabilise a huge region of the Middle East. Yet, despite the hatred and mistrust, the Sesame synchrotron - a collaborative project involving a number of Middle Eastern countries - is still going strong. How is this possible in the current climate of angry politics and even angrier warfare, and what are its implications for the hopes for peace in the region?
